Sad.
The SIU men's basketball team hosts Illinois State on Wednesday in a grudge match for bragging rights in the Missouri Valley Conference.
Yet, the headlines will reflect some sort of unhappy face emoticon as senior point guard Bryan Mullins is out indefinitely with a stress fracture in his right foot.
Last season, Mullins missed the team's two NIT games last season with a stress fracture in his left leg.
If you were to read the message boards, it seems as if it's a funeral out there. In the end, it is sad and it is a disappointment.
Mullins will go down as one of the greatest players in the school's history and there will be an argument to hang his No. 10 from the rafters one day.
As for the immediate future, Southern will feature a roster of only eight healthy players as it now only features four healthy guards.
Expect Justin Bocot, who is riding a hot hand, to get the starting nod in place of the injured Mullins.
