I am pretty convinced FOX Sports football guru Jay Glazer never takes a day off.
I'm sure he does not sleep. Does not eat. And if he has a family, they are likely neglected to the point where he keeps pictures of them around him 24/7 just to remind himself that there is life outside of football.
Glazer reports Indianapolis Colts head coach Tony Dungy is going to step away from the game at a news conference this afternoon. This is not shocking news, especially when you take into consideration Dungy has been contemplating calling it a career in every offseason since winning the Super Bowl.
Dungy will go down in history as one of the greatest coaches in NFL history. For a while there, his Cover-2 scheme revolutionized the way d-coordinators played defense. He brought Tampa Bay from the ugly jersey-wearing laughing stock they once were to a yearly contender that would always fall short in cold weather.
And while Jon Gruden gets the credit for the Buccaneers only Super Bowl title (with Brad Johnson at the helm, no less), he did it with Dungy's players and was carried by Dungy's defense.
Since then, the Buccs have been laughable as that innovative Gruden offense has been as plain as a vanilla ice cream cone.
And in the end, Dungy got his ring and his respectability.
I guess that's all you can ask for.
Just call him Tony Done-gy?
