Rodney Watson spared living in Cape Girardeau

Oh, to be a sports writer who covers the Southeast Missouri State men's basketball beat.

Once again, long-time SIU assistant Rodney Watson was passed over for a head coaching job, this time for ... prepare yourselves ... Dickey Nutt.

That's right. A guy named Dickey Nutt. Formerly at Arkansas, Nutt is the son of former Razorbacks coach Houston Nutt.

I guess you have to be some sort of Nutt to want to take over a team that went 3-27 in the 2008-09 season.

The good news is my favorite assistant coach is staying put for the foreseeable future, even though I'm convinced he's deserving of a head coaching job somewhere.
