Bracket Racket: Inside The East

Welcome to The Big Dead Sidebar's exclusive breakdown of each region of the NCAA Tournament. Here at the Bracket Racket, yours truly will break down the region's best match-up, individual player, upset special, sleeper and the favorite.

Enjoy.

Keep your eye on: Eric Maynor, PG, VCU. Maynor famously was the one-man band that knocked Duke out of the first round of the tourney a few years ago and now has his eyes set on bouncing the UCLA Bruins. However, I feel his task will be a little bit more difficult as he will be matched up against Darren Collison, Josh Shipp and Jrue Holiday.

Must see TV: No. 5 Florida State vs. No. 12 Wisconsin. For you SIU fans that happen to read this blog, set your television sets to 2005 and prepare yourselves for a Floorbun U like match-up between two of the best defense's in the tournament. The Seminoles have size and strength up front and the Badgers have the annoyingly painful slowest offense in basketball history. I'm not sure how Devin Harris survived in this system.

Upset Alert: Duke. I'm not buying into the ACC Tourney champs. Can't do it. Maybe it's my Carolina Blue-tinted shades, but maybe the school that produced Tony Korneheiser has something up its sleeves.

'Chalk' it up to: A source familiar with the operations of how a college basketball team works feels that Pittsburgh is his favorite to win the whole darn thing. This source happens to sweep up after basketball games at the SIU Arena.

Sleeping Giant: It's hard to name UCLA as a sleeper squad, but Ben Howland's a hell of a coach and there's enough talent in that backcourt to lead the Bruins to their fourth straight Final Four.
