Game One of the Final Four features a pair of dueling storylines that should make this match-up an interesting mind game.
HOW THEY GOT HERE: UConn breezed through the first three rounds, outscoring its opponents 267-173 before sneaking past a gritty Missouri ballclub. The Huskies have done it all in their run to the Final Four. They thrived against Purdue's grind-it-out game in the Sweet 16 round and they were able to run with the Tigers to earn the trip to Detroit.
Now, Connecticut's biggest challenge comes when it has to face a team that can do both.
Michigan State might be wearing the road green jerseys even though this team is right in its own backyard. The Spartans are armed with (in my opinion) the nation's best coach, an underrated star in Lucas and about 50 percent of the crowd support. Experts said they couldn't beat a talent-laden Kansas squad ... but they did. Then the same experts said they couldn't outscore No. 1 overall seed Louisville ... they did.
At this point, I wouldn't put anything past Tom Izzo's gang.
SO WHO'S WINNING THE GAME? I expected Louisville to be here and I expected them to beat UConn. So logic says since Michigan State beat Lousiville, it should beat UConn. And I like Tom Izzo a lot more than I like Jim Calhoun. Give me Michigan State by six in a low scoring game.
