As for Illinois' new governor, I can't wait until he finds himself in a controversy after trying to sell some White Sox seats at U.S. Cellular Field.

On behalf of the part of the TBDS staff that resides in the state of Illinois, good luck Pat Quinn.

As for the rest of us, I am unsure we are adequately prepared to live in a world where our President and Governor are both White Sox fans.

I think I better bet Obama/Guillen for the '09 World Series.

Developing Story: Blago, the Cubs and the Feds

Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich (a.k.a G-Rod or Blago) was arrested today on several federal charges.

Can anyone tell me why being Illinois governor is a dead end job? I guess G-Rod and George Ryan can figure that out together in the slammer.

For those of you who read this site that are not politically inclined, here's the Cubs-related news nugget you're waiting for:

"Blagojevich and (chief of staff John) Harris also allegedly conspired to demand the firing of Chicago Tribune editorial board members responsible for editorials critical of Blagojevich in exchange for state help with the sale of Wrigley Field, the Chicago Cubs baseball stadium owned by Tribune Co."

I wonder how this will effect that whole Jake Peavy thing?

OK, so a White Sox fan is in office. I'll get over it. Besides, if you voted for a candidate based on their preferred baseball team, then you're foolish.

Because if a White Sox fan can become the leader of the free world, there is NO reason for the Chicago Cubs not to be able to win a World Series.

Now we can go on to some real important issues.

Continuing to lower gas prices. Digging out of a financial crisis. Getting out of two wars.

And getting college football a playoff system!

Just Wondering

Since LeBron James donated $20,000 of his own hard-earned cash (because carrying the likes of Eric Snow and Damon Jones to the NBA Finals is harder than Chinese math) to Barack Obama's campaign, it makes me wonder who John McCain has in his corner.

Arizona hoops coach Lute Olsen? How about D'Backs shortstop Stephen Drew? Maybe Matt Leinhart has some political ties to the Arizona senator.

I wonder who's next to step out to support the campaign trail for either side.
