Motown Madness: No. 1 North Carolina vs. No. 3 Villanova

NCAA Elite 8: North Carolina Tar Heels v Oklahoma Sooners
No. 2 seed Michigan State is hanging tough with top-seeded UConn. In fact, Sparty leads at halftime. I'd love to give you analysis, but I slept through most of the first half. What can I say: work hard during the day, nap softly?

I guess this would be a good time to preview Game Two.

HOW THEY GOT HERE:
North Carolina came into this season as the unanimous No. 1 team in the country, then proceeded to run the table during the non-conference season. The unblemished start sparked talk of an undefeated season. However, losses in its ACC season ruined that. Carolina was able to blow by each of its opponents with its depth, speed and health from Ty Lawson.

Villanova kind of snuck under my radar as it competed in the toughest top-to-bottom conference in college basketball. The Wildcats are playing great ball, having defeated a No. 1 seed (Pitt), a No. 2 seed (Duke) and a No. 6 seed in UCLA which had been to three-straight Final Fours. 'Nova's got a lot going for it: a nice storyline of being an underdog, a strong and talented backcourt and a very well-dressed coach.

SO, WHO'S WINNING THE GAME: Roy Williams doesn't give a flip about what happened last year against Kansas. Apparently, he doesn't even give a flip about Ty Lawson being a gamblin' man. The laid back Heels should win this one, based on talent and the way they run their system. Having seen them live and in person in Memphis, I'm convinced UNC is destined for a title.
