WF > UNC = WTF?

Rutgers v North Carolina
Just finished watching No. 3 North Carolina fall to 0-2 in ACC play as the Tar Heels were bested by No. 4 Wake Forest, 92-89.

Just like the talk of Illinois State going unbeaten, the talk of UNC running the table was too much, too soon. Not only that, it was almost an impossible dream.

With so much talent spread around the country, it is hard for one team (even if it is stacked with All-Americans) to go unbeaten in a full regular season and post-season schedule. See the 2005 Fighting Illini who lost the last game on their regular season schedule, dominated the NCAA Tournament until running into the Buzzsaw in Baby Blue.

Anyway...

The Wake Forest fandom rushed the court after beating Carolina, which of course violates the rules of rushing the court. One day I will get into the laws of rushing the court, but let's talk about the ones the Demon Deacons violated tonight.

Seriously, what's the point of rushing the court when there isn't a buzzer beating shot? Answer me that question. Also, what constitutes and "upset" which would trigger a rushing of the court? No. 4 beating No. 3 does not constitute a true upset.

And what was with Roy Williams wearing a yellow tie and Wake's coach wearing a Carolina blue tie? That might have been the most confusing part of the game.

You know what's not confusing? Carolina's talent. If everyone's healthy and on their game, they should wipe the floor with everyone they play against. They lost to a top-5 team without the team's best on-the-ball defender and while shooting 36 percent from the field.

And while Wake's fans were rushing the court in a January clash of ACC titans, I have a feeling UNC will be celebrating in confetti once March rolls around.
