MLB: Where 14-11 nets you $60 million

MLB 2008 - NLCS Game4 - Phillies Beat Dodgers 7-5
There is no knocking Derek Lowe's playoff pedigree.

He won every clinching game for the Boston Red Sox in 2004 en route to a World Championship. Four years later, Lowe's Game 1 start at Wrigley Field derailed the Cubs' route to their first title since 1908.

Three months later, Lowe has inked a $60 million dollar contract with the Atlanta Braves on the same day as the Red Sox announced the signing of former Brave John Smoltz.

Lowe was 54-48 in his four year stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers, pitching in a bevy of pitcher friendly parks such as Dodger Stadium, PetCo Park and AT&T Park.

I'm sure the Bravos felt as if they needed to make a splash after missing out on Jake Peavy and A.J. Burnett.

And when your biggest splash is trading for Javier Vazquez, you know you're playing in the kiddie pool.

Congrats to Frank Wren for dipping his toe in the deep end.
