Daily Dosage: Here Come The Hawks!

Commit To The Indian. Chicago sports historians will gladly make the point that a long time ago before hybrid cars and fuel efficiency were in our vocabulary because gas only cost one straw penny, the Chicago Blackhawks hockey franchise ran this town.

And then, Bill Wirtz and his penny-pinching ways ran it into the ground. Chris Chelios, Dominik Hasek, Jeremy Roenick, Tony Amonte were stars on the Hawks that left when Wirtz' pockets dried up. In came guys like Doug Gilmore and Theo "I Don't Make It Rain, I Make It" Fleury...and that didn't work out to well.

Enter stage left the team of Rocky Wirtz (Bill's son) and former Cubs marketing guru John McDonough and BAM! we've got a hockey franchise that came three points short of the playoffs that will now televise its home games, bring back the world's best hockey announcer and spend some straight cash in the open market.

Chicago let's welcome defenseman Brian Campbell and goalie Cristobal Huet and hopefully a return of a franchise once full of pride.

Where Fantasy Sports Ruins Being A Fan. Jason Marquis throws 7 innings, gives up only two runs and still loses. At least it helps my fantasy team where Matt Cain K'ed 10 and picked up the win. Giants 2 Cubs 1.

Cliff Lee and John Danks combine to throw 16 innings and punch out 11 batters, but neither was able to pick up a win for me. Sox 3 Indians 2 F/10.
